Photographed and written by Wayne Mitchell, who has
been filming cultures around the world for the past fifty
years, to produce award-winning educational films,
released in many different languages, primarily for
Social Studies classes (many still in distribution as DVD:
see www.afana.org/mitchellw.htm).
The photos in these two volumes were taken during his
filming expeditions with his wife Yasuko … many of them
into remote off-the- road locations.
Wayne has also been involved in other minor occupations,
such as teaching at Miami University, staff cameraman
to J.F. Kennedy, National Park Ranger, war correspondent
(NBC) in Kashmir and Viet Nam, Director of Photography
for a few feature films in Hollywood, a volunteer to UNICEF
Children’s Fund, Story Teller (one man show: “Tall Tales of
The Old West”). And heavily involved with several Native
American Indian tribes.
He is now retired from film-making, but busy writing books
and magazine articles of his experiences with anthropology:
ethnic art, and tribes around the world.
